Well, although we may not be reaching the dizzy heights of success enjoyed in the 1980's, we are still fielding a team of competitive cyclists in many racing events across the region. Predominantly, our current riders compete in Cyclo-Cross events throughout the winter, however our distinctive jerseys can occasionally be spotted at the odd time trial or road race!
Top level success may be a little elusive at the moment, however, our current team are often hitting and exceeding personal goals. (eg Three Peaks Cyclo-Cross we usually have at least 2 riders taking part- just getting round it is an achievement!!) -- Unfortunately most of us can't be as dedicated as we used to be due to work and family commitments (excuses!!) so take satisfaction from our performances under the circumstances! The Circuit Training on Tuesdays is the Club's main weekly get together throughout the Winter(see 'Training' link on the navigation panel).. It's a good chance to meet everyone and get fit at the same time..
What do we do in the summer??-- It's pretty much informal really, but belonging to the club means you have the contacts to get things organised. We have had groups doing cycle touring (UK and abroad), mountain biking, Audax events, challenge cycle rides and social cycle runs. Funnily enough though, we now have a large chunk of our members (thats about 8!) becoming competitive runners-- and surprisingly (not!) are strangely drawn towards fell running. This is a great sport for the Cyclo-Cross enthusiast, and there are an enormous number of events around the Sheffield area mainly in our 'off' season, so its the perfect way to keep fit.-
