Brief Club History..

The Norton Wheelers were formed in the 1970's by teachers from Rowlinson School in the Norton area of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Most of the original members were pupils from the school, but as the club became more established, riders from outside began to join.

The main focus of the club has always been cyclo-cross racing..
This probably stemmed from the appeal of this sport from the young members at the time as these were the days before mountain biking!

In the early 1980's, the racing team saw success at the National level--
Local camera retailer Ron Harrison and Hoya lenses sponsored the club. With this backing, and a team of now older and stronger riders, Norton Wheelers briefly became the country's top cyclo-cross team.

Some of our team successes:
1983
2nd team National Championship

1984
1st team National Championship!!
1st team 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross

1985
3rd team National Championship
