Basic Info:

The Group :For the 1st week, 6 people, the second week, we increased to 8. We are all members of or associated with Norton Wheelers cycling club from Sheffield.

Getting there : Flight from East Midlands Airport to Alacante by BMIbaby (bikes cost £10 extra each way).

Dates : Set out on Saturday 12th April 2003, returned on Saturday 26th April 2003

Accomodation:Camping except for at Callosa where we used a hotel

Mileage: Approximately 620 Miles in total

The Route : (much simplified, mainly kept to minor roads where possible)

On arrival at Alacante, we took the short journey to l'Altet campsite (approx 4 miles) and spent the Saturday night there

Day 1 : From l'Altet, headed South to Los Alcazares (nr San Javier) on the Mar Menor coast crossing into the Murcia Region.

Day 2 : From Los Alcazares, stayed with the coastline to Playa De La Isla via Cartagena.

Day 3 : From Playa de la Isla, headed North West to Bullas.

Day 4 : Headed in a North Easterly direction to Banos de Fortuna

Day 5 : Continued in the same direction to almost complete the circle back to el Campello near Alacante.

Day 6 : Rest day

Day 7 : el Campello Northwards to Callosa d'en Sarria (stayed in hotel)

Day 8 : From Callosa to la vall d'Alcala

Day 9 : From la vall d'Alcala back to the coast again to Platja de Daimus near Gandia

Day 10 : Headed East to Enguera and stayed for 2 nights

Day 11 : Circuit (partly off road) starting at Enguera, via Anna, Chella,Bolbaite,Navarres, Quesa, Bicorp,Las Casas de Beneli, returning to Enguera.

Day 12 : Enguera to Bocairent via Ontinyent.

Day 13 : Bocairent to el Campello near Alacante.

Day 14 : Rest and cycle to Alacante airport
